OHR in Conversation... a virtual series hosted by the Office of Human Rights, highlights social justice people, places, and spaces in Prince George's County. On August 10th, we are thrilled to host Joseline A. Pena-Melnyk, Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates. Speaker Pena-Melnyk, the first Afro-Latina in the nation to serve as a presiding legislative officer, has served as a Member of the House of Delegates since 2006 and in December of 2025, her colleagues unanimously elected her as the 109th Speaker of the House.
